Smart Edge solution integrator PHI DATA, specializing in the digitization of logistics business processes, is expanding into the Netherlands. Working closely with parent company Simac, it is setting up its own Dutch organization, Simac Phi Data. The new entity is headed by sector specialist Akko van Wijk.
PHI DATA helps companies in their digital transformation with a wide range of Smart Edge solutions for the logistics supply chain, shop-floor and field services. The solutions rely on SaaS-based software and use technologies such as automatic identification, mobile computing, label printing, real-time localization and condition monitoring. In doing so, PHI DATA uses innovative technologies that have already proven their value in practice.
Founded in Belgium, PHI DATA has been part of the Simac family since December 2020, when Simac Techniek took a majority stake in PHI DATA. Cooperating with Simac is only logical for PHI DATA CEO Guy Couder: “Simac has a lot of experience in the sectors we also target, particularly retail, industry, transport, logistics and healthcare. Through Simac, we can easily get in touch with a large number of potential customers.” This also explains why PHI DATA adds the Simac brand name to its name for the Dutch market.
In the coming months, Simac Phi Data plans to further expand the Dutch team with sales, presales and technical support people. “It has always been our ambition to have more of a presence in the Netherlands,” said Couder. From Belgium, Simac Phi Data brings 40 years of experience in goods & asset management and IoT. The Belgian headquarters will act as a center of expertise for Simac Phi Data and also provide back-office support.
Simac Phi Data is headed by Akko van Wijk. Van Wijk has been active in the AutoID systems market since 1996 and knows the retail and logistics sector inside out. He worked for a long time at Honeywell, one of the business partners of both Simac and PHI DATA. “Simac Phi Data can fall back on PHI DATA’s wide range of hardware, software and services,” says Van Wijk. “Although we obviously take into account the specific needs of the Dutch market.”
“With the addition of Simac Phi Data, we are now active throughout the Benelux. That’s a first step toward further international expansion,” Couder concluded ambitiously.
