Collaboration strengthens international ambitions for both companies
Wemmel, 23 December 2020 – Technology company Simac has acquired a majority of the shares of the Belgian ICT company PHI DATA. The company will be added to the Simac group but will continue to operate independently to deliver Smart Edge solutions to improve business processes. As a result of the takeover, Simac sees its market share grow in Belgium and Luxembourg. In addition, the market in the Netherlands and the Czech Republic is opening up for the advanced PHI DATA technology.
PHI DATA specializes in digitization and improvement of business processes through its so-called Smart Edge solutions, which are close to the customer’s core process and integrate their physical chain in real time with their digital chain. Guy Couder, CEO PHI DATA, explains: “More specifically, this concerns optimizing logistics flows, tracking material assets and improving the efficiency of the employees involved. Think of tracking & tracing and Internet of Things solutions. This is playing an increasingly important role in our society because adequate information provision (including e-commerce) and legislation and regulations require us to register more and more what is happening in logistics chains in particular. In addition to the fact that companies themselves want more and more insight in order to be able to act quickly and in a targeted manner. ”
Expansion to other countries
Both parties expect the market for this type of digitization solutions to grow strongly in the coming years. Eric van Schagen, CEO Simac: “We have already taken major steps internationally within Simac in this area and through this acquisition we are gaining even more experience and references. The intention is that PHI DATA will continue to operate as an independent company within the Simac group. But due to the cross-pollination, both companies are also gaining a foothold in other countries outside the Benelux, such as the Czech Republic. ”
“The synergies between both companies will undoubtedly create new opportunities. Expansion in the Benelux will indeed be one of the priorities in which Belgium will form the competence centre. Later, other countries will be tackled where Simac has branches”, says Guy Couder.
PHI DATA has its headquarters in Wemmel. There are also branches in Mons in Wallonia and in Rodange (Luxembourg). A team of approximately 45 employees is available to support the more than two thousand regular customers.
